Whether it's beef, bison or turkey, it's time to get out the grill. A few key ingredients, a hot grill and a watchful eye make barbecuing burgers so simple and delicious.
With warm weather finally here, outdoor grilling is the way to go. Haven't tried turkey burgers or bison yet? Maybe it's time to put that grill into action. Try the low-fat, healthy meats along with the tried and true favorite beef burgers.
If change is not something that comes easily, try the beef recipe first and then try the bison and turkey. Why cook bison? Bison is lower in fat and cholesterol than chicken or even salmon, and should be grilled slowly, more slowly than beef.
optional: replace french fried onions with Panko bread crumbs
Directions:
Combine mustard, mayo and sour cream; set aside.
Combine meat, Worcestershire, French Fried Onions and seasonings to form six patties.
Preheat grill to medium high. Prior to grilling, brush grill with a wire brush or a balled-up piece of tin foil to clean the grill. Lightly grease the grill with balled-up paper towel soaked in olive oil.
Keep barbecue lid closed for even heating, then place burgers on the grill for 5 minutes each side, reducing heat to med-low for final few minutes. Add a few minutes on the grill if necessary.
Each person can add as much or as little of the prepared sauce on their burger.

Blue Cheese Stuffed Burger
Ingredients:
1-1/2 lbs ground beef or turkey
1/2 cup shredded cheese (your choice)
1/4 cup crumbled blue cheese
1/4 cup finely chopped fresh parsley
2 tsp Dijon mustard
1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
1 clove garlic, minced
1/4 tsp salt
2 tsp olive oil
4 hamburger rolls
Directions:
Shape beef into 8 patties, about 4 inches in diameter and 1/4 inch thick. Combine cheeses, parsley, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, garlic and salt in bowl and blend.
Put 1/4 of the cheese mixture on top of each of the four patties. Top with remaining four patties, pinching edges to seal patties completely. Set aside.
Grill over med-high heat for 10-15 mins, turning once.
Combine cheeses, olives, oregano, parsley and tomato in bowl.
Add cheese (about 2 Tblsp) to each patty, top with another patty and pinch edges to seal.
Place burgers on med-high heat on lightly oiled, uncovered grill for 15 mins, turning once. If burgers are not done to perfection, grill a little longer and remember, the meat should register 160 degrees F inside.

Grilling Outdoors
This is part of what makes summer feel so relaxed. Throwing a burger on the grill, whipping up a marinade or cheese filling for a burger creates a mouth-watering meal without so much as a mess in the kitchen.
